They just eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive to an extreme, whatever that positive may be.

Good looks.

Ability to hit a baseball.

A great singing voice.

An eye for talent.

And the positive trait doesn't have to be a super-level talent. It's just accentuated and polished to the point that it seems that way. And the stink of any negative is kept far, far away.
