... Welcome -- or welcome back -- to Miami, Where the building sways during a storm so much that you get motion sickness.
As soon as I heard the evacuation notice for Hurricane #Irma, and saw that evacuation was more of a suggestion than an enforced order, my decision was made: If something bad is gonna happen to my home, I want to be right there when it happens.
I didn't want to hear about it, or be traveling back wondering if something had happened. I wanted to be right in the middle of it. And when the power went out, when the water stopped running, and when I had to take 40+ flights down -- and up -- stairs to get some fresh air, I was right there.
Dre Philosophy Vol. 0: Decision, Action, Mindset and Being Unapologetically Who You Are
[NOTE: The building in which I live aided in this decision. I've lived in places where I definitely WOULD have gotten out of there. Trust.]
Though the decision changed temporarily due to it being more than just my own, I knew my instinct wouldn't mislead me. When logic + instinct align, there's nothing to think about. It's done.
So, next time a storm comes to Miami, barring other prior commitments, you won't even have to ask: I'm staying. Right there in it.
Welcome back. I ain't leaving.
