I hate cold weather.
If you are ever invited to my home (unlikely, as nobody comes in our house except family), know this: If the temperature in Miami is below 65º, the heat will be ON 🥵.
I like it HOT.
At the same time, I live in Miami, Florida. We have a tropical climate. A 60º day is our “winter”.
So, I should be happy.
Except for one detail.
In my home office, I sit next to a big window, where for 80% of the year, the sun shines directly on me from 8 AM - 12:30 PM.
And I wear suits. So, even on “nice” 60-degree days, It’s HOT in my office.
Too hot.
So here I am, Mr. I-Like-It-Hot, turning on the air conditioner to cool off.
Last week, the AC wasn't working.
It was maybe 73 degrees (or less). The sun was hitting me hard through my window. I turned the AC on, but it was still too hot.
So I turned the AC lower.
And lower.
I even had the thermostat under 70º, which NEVER happens in my home. If the AC is on 73, it’s an emergency.
STILL too hot.
Finally, after 2 ½ days of this nonsense, I went to the AC closet to find out the problem.
My idea was to shut off the AC unit, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on. This resets the unit and lets the AC get its act together to work properly.
I opened the door and did just that, when I realized that there may be another issue.
I often ship out large book orders in boxes. I keep a stack of flat boxes tucked away in the AC closet. One of the boxes had slipped from the stack and was fully blocking the vents on the air conditioning unit.
It had been this way for 3 days.
No wonder the cold air wasn't getting cold.
I moved the blocking box. Everything has been back to normal since.

Sometimes, your biggest problem isn't that you're in the wrong business.
You’re not the wrong person.
You are not destined to struggle or fail.
You just have a blockage in your life / marketing / strategy / system that you don't even notice.
There is a flat box blocking your AC vent. And you think you need to replace the whole unit.
You don't.
What you must do is properly identify the problem that does exist, so you don't waste (more) resources fixing the wrong thing(s).
This is called “insight”.
Insight is not about having all the answers.
It's about asking the right questions.
As a coach, I have a lot of answers.
But my “money skill” is in supplying you with better QUESTIONS.
If you come to a conversation with me with 8 questions, I will –
1) Answer 3 of them.
2) Replace the other 5 with better questions.
This is how breakthroughs happen.
