Out Of Apologies: Stop Aplogizing For Being Who You Are

During his playing career, Charles Barkley once got into a confrontation with a drunk fan on the road. Charles ended up throwing the guy through a glass window at a bar.

At his court appearance, the judge asked Chuck if he had any regret for what had happened.

Yeah. I wish we had been on the fourth floor instead of the first when I did it.

How often do you, or someone you know (of), apologize for doing exactly what you wanted to do? I used to do that. But it's been a long time since I've made that mistake. And it's time that you eliminate that habit as well.

You are who you are. Always have been and you always will be. Your #1 value to the world is the one thing that makes you unique: that you cannot be duplicated. So when you apologize for being yourself, you're denying the one thing that makes you valuable.

So in essence you're actively participating in making yourself worthless.

People respect you more, the less you feel the need to appease them. How much do you respect a person who's always apologizing for things? Probably not much.

Be who you are. Whoever isn't in agreement with that, the hell with 'em.
