People ask me about balance all the time. How much time should I spend working vs. just enjoying life? Or, Dre, when do you take time off? Or, what do you do when you're not working?
Listen: There should be no balance. "Balance" denotes you limiting the amount of time and energy you spend on either one.
I don't like these either/or things. I see people say, "This is what I do, but it's not who I am!" And they use the exclamation point as if they're proud of it. Know this about me: What I do IS who I am. All of it. Every video. Every blog post. Every tweet and Instagram picture.
Why would you limit the amount of energy you put into your life? That would only make sense if your life isn't fulfilling enough for you to want to live it full-time.
Why limit the amount of time you put into your work, or limit how much of your work reflects you as a person? We spend 1/3 of our lives working -- it should be a damn LOT of who you are! Only because your work isn't giving you enough -- money, fulfillment, energy that makes you want to do it all the time.
I'm an everything/both type of person. I don't want to balance work and life -- and, if you follow what I'm going to share here, you won't want to either.
Do what you actually like doing and make that your work. If you're not in a position to do that right now, fine -- start doing it on the side. One hour per day. Can you do that? Yes. Yes you can. How? What should you do? Get my free PDF here to help you get started and sign up for my webinar alerts to see the webinar coming on the topic. So now, what you do IS who you are.
Live your life to the fullest. This will probably require resources, like time and energy and money, right? Right. So, maximize #1 -- there are many resources to help you, me being one of the best (email me directly here and I'll help you). This will result in having more money. You'll also have more time, because your work now is part of your life! And you'll have more energy, because now you actually like what you spend 1/3 of your life doing.
More coming on this...
