When I was dating, I knew within five two minutes of meeting a woman what the interaction would result in.

Casually intimate relations
Nothing/never speak again

Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t as smart then as I am now (though I’m no longer dating), and these 2-minute decisions that should have been 10-minute Starbucks meet-and-greets had to play out over 50-minute lunches and dinners that cost me significantly more than venti lattes would have.

When we look at apartments to possibly live in, employees to possibly hire, food to possibly eat, we know, in two minutes, what the decision is.

And there are a lot of reasons why we don’t say so.
