When you have a big picture in your mind -- a purpose, well-defined goals -- and know where you're going, the little things will not bother you.
The little things in our day -- being cut off in traffic, a rude grocery store cashier, an obnoxiously loud kid behind you in line -- simply roll off of your back when you have a purpose for living and know where you're going. You don't have time or mental energy to waste on small stuff; or on small people or small ideas.
If you find yourself getting caught up on these little things, ask yourself where you're going. What your purpose, right at this very moment, is. When you can answer these questions, your mind focuses on them and blocks the rest out. The little things can still be there, but they cease to exist to you.
