Sometimes, when I'm going somewhere with another person, I don't feel like driving.
It would be much more relaxing to recline in the passenger seat, play on my phone, and float along on the ride. But it's been a long time since I've done that. And on the rare occasion that I do, there's a long time in between the next time it happens.
I'm the type of person who likes to be early -- super early, some would say -- to functions. If it starts at 8, I'm there at 7:15. If the building opens at 6, I'm in the parking lot at 5:50. Most people, I've found, don't think like this. And even if I get someone to move early there's no urgency -- we're already early anyway! What's the rush?
That's why I always insist on driving if at all possible.
If an aggressive move needs to be made on the road I can make it. I'm the one to interpret the map and directions and choose the best route. There's no one to blame if I'm behind the wheel. And it guarantees that we'll be on time.
If you insist on certain things being done your way, take the wheel. That guarantees 100% responsibility is on you. That's what you want, right?
