I always looked at holidays as a chance to gain time: Either gaining ground on those ahead of me, or getting further ahead of those behind me.
Even Before I could've explained it, I never wanted to always do what everyone else was doing. It just didn't make sense to me that I would ever get ahead or stay ahead if I was doing the same as "them."
Maybe this Mindset is why I wasn't often invited to the cookouts and parties.

My favorite work days have always been - and still are - the days when I know most everyone else isn't on their job. It's free money that no one else wants to go get.
If it's there, and no one else wants it, you don't even have to fight for it.
You just have to show up.
