It's great to be a magnet- having people come to you because of your reputation or your noted past successes. But no one starts out that way.

You'll have to spend some time going to the people who will become your audience -- promoting yourself, selling your ideas, making your name and work known. And even when you have reached some success, your willingness to step back into that selling mode, over and over again, will play a major role in how much further you can reach.
