Fear Is About More Than Danger

Routines and habits become what they are because we stop thinking about them.
Our subconscious takes over and we just do the same stuff, over and over again, because we’re used to doing it. Not necessarily because it’s good for us or because it’s producing (or moving us towards) a needed result.
Every once in awhile, we realize this — this habit is completely useless for me.
Then what do we do?
Most people do nothing.
They keep following the same routines, routines that are useless at best, self-destructive at worst.
Not because they’re stupid or unmotivated or destined to be losers.
It’s fear.
Fear of the void that remains when a tried-and-true routine is discontinued.
Fear of what you will think of yourself when you see how mentally and emotionally naked you really are without the comfort of those old habits to cover you.
Fear of something new that will require some engagement of your discipline.
Fear is about more than confrontation or physical danger or suffering some tangible loss.

Fear is what happens when we hop off the treadmill and realize that we’ve been running in place — and now we’re on the hook for actually going somewhere.

"Fear is what happens when we hop off the treadmill and realize that we’ve been running in place — and now we’re on the hook for actually going somewhere."
Most people look at that option, and hop back on the rotating conveyor belt.

What do you do?
