There's still fame and fortune in that. Every person wants fame and/or fortune in life. Understand what each represents:

Fame represents attention or recognition. Everyone yearns for recognition in some form. Some want it from a stadium of 30,000 people; others want it from mom, dad or their husband. Give someone the attention they haven't been getting elsewhere and they'll be eating out of your hand.

Fortune represents more or excess -- more of anything past our basic human needs. People are greedy (one of the Seven Deadly Sins) and will almost always sacrifice a sufficient enough for and exorbitant more. Dangle fortune in front of a person who believes the possibility to be true and you can lead him anywhere -- even down the wrong path.
