When you decide to put a team together, everyone on that team will be watching you. Following your lead. Seeing what's accepted and not accepted, how hard to work or not work. How serious things are to be taken, when to jump and how high.

Even without consciously thinking about it, we all kinda know these things. It's a tough spot to be in -- the stage -- and many people don't want to go anywhere near that light. It's a responsibility most people don't want, so they join teams instead of starting them.

You'll have many opportunities in life to make either choice -- some situation you're in right now may have featured this choice. Know that your every move will be scrutinized when you're the guy on top. You can't take days off. You cannot show weakness. You can't have any defeatist or quit in you -- that is, unless you want your team to be the same way. And if they do, it's your job to fix that, either by coaching/coaxing it out of them or getting rid of the ill-fitting pieces.

All of this for a task that may not even succeed or get off the ground. But if it does, the upside is loaded in your favor.
