“You, too, are fortunate because regardless of where you live you are in the geographical center of the world. You can go from where you are to anywhere you want to go, and I speak of far more than just a geographical location. To be fair, I must warn you that it is not an easy trip. There will be the inevitable hills and valleys before you can go over the top. However, if you will supply the want to, the information you have in your hands will supply the how to. Though the trip is demanding, it is also exhilarating. The good news is that the view from over the top is spectacular—and the rewards, including much of what money can buy and all of what money can't buy, make the trip far more than worthwhile. Best of all, you will discover that even though the rewards are great, what you become by reaching your destination is far more important than what you get by reaching your over-the-top destination."
Zig Ziglar, who died in 2012 at the age of 86, is one of my personal, virtual mentors. Along with Earl Nightingale, Jim Rohn and Napoleon Hill, I've consumed hours and hours of their audio recordings and books.
Over The Top is my first Ziglar book. I'll state here that Over The Top, at it's core, is no different of a book than The Law Of Success of Philosophy on Successful Living in that they all have the same goal. That goal is to teach the reader about the power of thoughts, how those thoughts lead to action, and how those actions lead to results. None of the books leaves you hanging there, though: they also teach you how to go about taking and keeping control over every important area of life.
So why read and listen to the works of all 3, and not just one? The same reason you watch Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul and not just one of them. There's more than one way to receive goodness, humans like variety, and each one has his own flavor. You can enjoy all 3.
Most importantly, personal development is like the gym is like eating is like bathing. Doing it once ain't enough.
Zig shares a lot of stories in his writing. He talks of people who have made success out of what most would see as losing hands in life. Zig lays out detailed, step-by-step plans for life-changing success that anyone should follow in some form. I do myself, and I demand it of my clients as well.
And if you follow the advice and direction given in this book, I will see you - and yes I really do mean YOU - not just at the top, I will see you OVER The Top!
