Most people are not "haters" nor are they hoping you fail. Most people want you happy, productive, doing well.
Just not better than them.
As soon as your success passes theirs, a problem exists: what does he have as a person that I don't? 
Nothing.
So why does he have a level of success that I don't? 
[Insert negativity]
Keep doing well if you please. Just know that success beyond a certain accepted level breeds envy, and more success creates more enemies (who eventually turn admirers if you stick to it long enough).
