An athlete told me he had been working with a trainer for a year or so, which meant he now, according to him, knew all he needed to know about preparing his body for his sport. It would make sense then, he asked, to just drop his trainer now and do it on his own, right?
No.
Think of the best athletes in the world, in any sport, male or female. Do they have trainers? You don’t know to know them personally to know the answer: of course they do. What serious athlete wouldn’t?
Maybe you think they have trainers because they have money and status. The trainer is what allowed them to get the money and status, and who pushes them to be their best so they can keep the money and status. Don’t hustle backwards (episode # ).
