I had a teammate in college who had a really bad pickup game habit.
Any time he made inadvertent contact with someone, usually a person on the other team, he’d stop his play to ask the player if he was OK from the contact. I guess he was trying to make sure he hadn’t hurt anyone. And mind you, this was happening right in the middle of the damn game.
This teammate was a really nice guy, obviously. The kind who would never purposely hurt someone. Well, the rest of us weren’t so considerate. We’d angrily tell him to stop asking us if we were OK and just play the game.
Conservation and tact have their place in life. It’s just that, the place is not “everywhere.” Today, you’ll know exactly what I mean.
