#2698: Studying Vs. Consuming

Over the years, with 33 books and thousands of podcast episodes under my belt, I've come to understand the critical difference between studying and simply consuming information. I've seen firsthand that reading or listening to something once doesn't equate to genuine understanding or progress.

Today’s masterclass, I want to share a valuable lesson I've learned through my own experiences. Drawing on my own academic background and real-world tests like licensing exams, I stress the importance of actively engaging with what you learn. True comprehension comes from repetition, revisiting material, and applying it in practical ways. I introduce the concept of "professional information gatherers" (PIGs) who endlessly collect knowledge but don't take action. I encourage you to apply what you learn, strive for expertise, and be able to teach others effectively by immersing yourself deeply in knowledge.

Show notes:

[14:09] #2 Merely consuming information means nothing.
[20:40] #3 To study a topic, you must immerse yourself in it.
